There was a time, years ago, when Cruising Cats USA represented only one catamaran brand. It was a good one....and popular with a certain segment of the sailing community. But there's no getting around one truth: No single catamaran model can satisfy ALL sailors' needs. And so, over the ensuing years, CC/USA has carefully and selectively added additional brands. Each new brand was chosen because it offered specific benefits unique to it among our other lines. These particular advantages might involve aesthetics, performance, construction, load-carrying capability, or a special value/price benefit. Meanwhile, we're always on the lookout for new models that will give our clients the latest in design and technological development. That's an important consideration. Why? Well, if you compare a 10-year old cruising monohull with a 1-year old cruising monohull, the similarities will be more striking than the differences. Oh, sure, the new model may sport the latest in fabrics or exterior graphics. But the basic boat won't be much different -- the cruising monohull is basically past any major evolutionary changes. But with cruising cats the story is quite different. The modern, sail-cruising catamaran is a relatively new creation -- only a few decades old. As such, you can see a "new generation" of cats evolving at about five-year intervals. Take any leading brand that's enjoying continued success, whether Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, Gemini ... you name it. Much of their respective success is because they are "redefining" themselves about every 5 or so years. Conversely, there are some other builders who are still offering approximately the same cat that they offered 8 or 10 years ago. True, they may tweak the window shapes a bit, or add a foot of length to the swim steps — but essentially, those models older than about 5 years are stagnant or fading. And rightly so. It's like the world of computers. There are no leading manufacturers today who are still offering, say, a 486 or Pentium I as their leading model. So, the numerous sailing cats you find here represent some of the latest evolutionary developments within the cruising-cat world. For example, only one of them was available more than 6 years ago. A few of them weren't available 12 months ago! And two won't even debut until six-to-twelve months from now. If one or two of these models especially appeals to you, please don't hesitate to contact us for further information. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy this opportunity to be able to compare more than a dozen different sail-cruising models from the comfort of your computer monitor. |
